Celebration time at Colorfoto Studio
Colorfoto’s support for Save The Children continued in 2010. Our school customers came up trumps again when they helped us raise £1363.62 at our 6 Nations Rugby events. Save The Children’s Fund Raising Executive, Jess Evans said, “Colorfoto’s support has been wonderful over the past few years and this payment will make a huge difference to the lives of many children. The current situation in Niger requires urgent action, and we are providing monthly cash transfers to help tide families over until the next harvest, as well as treating severely malnourished children. We need to take immediate action and Colorfoto’s kind donation will help tremendously.”

Head Teacher Mr Brookman & pupils
Children and Staff are celebrating success following a recent Estyn inspection. Upon arrival the registered inspector, Dr. David Ellis informed staff that this was his 99th inspection – that’s a lot of inspections.
The report stated that Beaufort Hill Primary School in Ebbw Vale is an exceptionally good school, where standards, teaching, provision and management have many outstanding features. Dr. Ellis went on to say that out of the 99 schools he has inspected it was the first time that he had awarded seven grade ones and how impressed the team had been not only with the school’s achievements but also with the exemplary behaviour of the children.
Head Teacher, Phill Brookman, along with his staff and pupils are over the moon with the report, and he is so pleased that the hard work of his staff and pupils has been recognised. Many congratulations from all at Colorfoto!

Bloodhound SSC Project
The Engineering Education Scheme – Wales operates in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering. The aim of the scheme is to encourage the best talent in our schools to take up engineering as a career, following a university degree in an engineering discipline. The mechanism for this is to organise industrial-based engineering projects for teams of talented sixth form students, which they will find both challenging and stimulating. The culmination of the project was the Awards & Presentation Day at The Celtic Manor Resort on Monday 22nd March where the schools displayed their projects. Each school was assessed and the ten category winners presented with their prizes.
The highlight of the event was the spectacle of the full size replica of the Bloodhound SSC. Wing Commander Andy Green, who will be piloting this supersonic car, was one of the guest speakers. He gave an exciting account of the Bloodhound project, and of how he hopes to break the previous land speed record by achieving 1000 miles an hour, when he gets behind the wheel in 2012!

Pencoed Students' Magazine Cover
Colorfoto recently welcomed Year 12 Media students from Ysgol Pencoed School in Bridgend. Photographers and creative artists were on hand to give camera and software tuition to the pupils to produce their own magazine covers. Jayne Slater, Head of Media at the school said, “Colorfoto’s facilities are fantastic; we simply don’t have access to this type of technology at school. The company’s photography and design experts helped create and implement the magazine concept from scratch. The pupils were amazed at what they were able to produce and Colorfoto printed the final magazine covers as posters, which we will be proudly displaying at our forthcoming inspection. The whole experience was unbelievable`’
